Toei Animation Co., Ltd. produces an animated series of HAKABA KITARO authored by Shigeru Mizuki. This is the origin of GE-GE-GE NO KITARO. Eleven episodes will be shown on Fuji Television ”NOITAMINA” from January, 2008. The first animated episodes of GE-GE-GE NO KITARO started on January 3rd, 1968 and created a yokai (ghastly apparitions) sensation. The masterpiece has been remade repeatedly, earning applause each time. The broadcast of GE-GE-GE NO KITARO entered its fifth period in April, 2007 and continues on Fuji Television Network at 9:00 a.m. every Sunday. After 40 years, HAKABAKITARO marks the long-awaited TV debut of the origin of KITARO. A secret story concerning KITARO’s birth will be revealed.
