◆What's "Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters"?
Commonly known as Digimon, the Digital Monsters series began with the airing of Digimon Adventure in 1999 (based on the original concept of the Digital Monster LCD-screen based toys first released in 1997), and has continued to be loved by people of a wide range of ages. The latest new story to carry on the legacy of the franchise is Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters.

The key to this new story lies in the smartphone apps now used by many people all around the world. Within these apps lurk artificially intelligent lifeforms called “Appli Monsters” (commonly referred to as “Appmons”). The premise of the new story is that there are as many of these monsters as there are apps in the world. Since its creation, Digimon has continued to enthrall and fascinate children with images of the not-so-distant future.

In this new story, Appmons take an active role in battling against artificial intelligence, which has become a major topic in recent times.
